Public Library Amsterdam (OBA), The Netherlands

Amsterdam Public Library (Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam – OBA) has had a new central branch since 2007. This seven-store library provides a paradise for those who enjoy reading and interactive media.

The Amsterdam Public Library provides library services for the boroughs of Amsterdam, Diemen and Ouder Amstel. In addition to its general collection of books and audio-visual material the Amsterdam Public Library has also a number of unique specialist collections.

The solution

The space-saving library solutions were chosen for storing a large proportion of the library’s collection , stored in the basement levels that are not accessible to the public.

A wide variety of storage systems were installed in the basement rooms. Sysco® static racks for storing books and periodicals. Compactus® mobile systems operated by a hand wheel for storing books, periodicals and CDs/DVDs. Compactus® Power3, mobile electronic systems for storing books.
